What is it?
Authentic is an oft-used adjective for small cafe/restaurants but Little Georgia really warrants it. It’s family-run and you can tell (in a good way), from its unassuming shop front through to it’s warm and kooky interior – you’ll find all sorts of trinkets, family photos and bits and bobs dotted around the place – it’s got a nice warm yet cool and contemporary feel helped by the green wooden panelling on the walls. As a result this setting is great for a different kind of restaurant date and also groups (though you may want to book ahead if there’s a lot of you – it’s not the biggest place).

What should you get?
Little Georgia has built a reputation as one the best BYOBs in Hackney. As the name might suggest, it specialises in Georgian food – so expect something absolutely unique but with strong influences of Turkish, Greek, Mediterranean and Persian. Meats and vegetables combine together with spices to create filling, hearty flavours.
Georgian cheese bread, with a fried egg plonked in the middle, if it sounds weird it is, but it tastes delicious
Borscht soup is Little Georgia’s well-renowned beetroot soup, with apple, fennel and then garnished with dill. It comes served with creme fraiche and a hunk of homemade bread. The Badrijnis Salata is an aubergine salad – roasted aubergine salad along with garlic and onions, mixed with red peppers in a seasoned tomato and spicy red Aijka sauce – delicious & ideal with a side for veggies. You also must check out the Kachapuri – this is a Georgian cheese bread, with a fried egg plonked in the middle, if it sounds weird it is, but it tastes delicious. A must-get and a perfect insta opp.
Unlike many BYOB restaurants this place is open for breakfast & lunch if you’d prefer to swap out your bottle of blossom hill for a green tea or your 6 pack of fozzys for a coffee with breakfast.
Located just off Haggerston Park near Cambridge Heath, you’ll be happy to know that corkage is free. Great food, atmosphere and portions – definitely recommend checking it out.
